An almond bite a day sends the doctor away…..

Mykonian almond bites are made mainly of almonds, sugar and rose water. Their concentration in fats is zero since the only type of fat they contain is that of almonds which is polyunsaturated, i.e. good fat, that doesn’t harm our health. Amygdalin is considered to have anticancer properties. It is rich in calcium, phosphorus, potassium and vitamin E which is a significant antioxidant that protects our organism from various degenerative diseases and slows down the aging of our cells. Also, almonds contain magnesium which helps maintain the good health of our bones as well as fibers contributing to better functioning of our intestines. Almonds also decrease the levels of the so called “bad” cholesterol (LDL), responsible for the appearance of cardiovascular diseases while at the same time they increase the “good” cholesterol (HDL).

The content of vitamin D is 10 mcg per 100g but carotene is absent.
The content of vitamin D is 0,13mgr per 100g.
Good supplier of vitamin E at a level of 9,1chlgr per 100g.
The B vitamins are present (in kg per 100g):thiamine 0.12, riboflavin 0.45, nicotinic acid 2.4, pyridoxine 0.06, pantothenic acid 0.35. The level of folic acid is 45mgr per 100g and the level of biotin is 2mgr per 100g.

The content of vitamin C is 2 mgr per 100g.

It is excellent potassium source and it is also low in sodium.

Rich source of calcium, magnesium and phosphorus.

Good source of iron, zinc and sulfur.

The levels of metals (in mgr per 100g) are: sodium 13, Potassium 400, calcium 120, magnesium 120, phosphorus 220, iron 2.0, copper 0.08, zinc 1.5, sulfur 81 and chlorine 13.

In conclusion, their consumption as snacks constitute almonds as an ideal weight management food and a preventor of cardiovascular diseases.
